The Voice is back, and better than ever.
In the Season 2 premiere, the NBC singing competition showed why it became a big hit last spring - the chemistry of the four judges and the unexpected talent.
For those unfamiliar, the judges turn around, sight unseen, if they like someone trying out. That person then chooses which star he/she wants to coach them.
Let's get down to business and see who joined Team Christina Aguilera, Team Blake Shelton, Team Cee Lo Green and Team Adam Levine last night ...
Jesse Campbell and his surprising, tragic back story took second fiddle to his rendition of "A Song For You" that caused all four judges to turn around.
After a funny, borderline racist comment from Cee Lo to Christina, he opted for Team Christina. Watch his performance and the fight for him here:
Later on, Christina also added Chris Mann, who's an opera singer! Who expected him to start singing in Italian on The Voice? Check it out below ...
RaeLynn was the first audition of the night, and was gunning for Team Blake from the start. After all, she sang Miranda Lambert's "Hell on Heels."
Adam and Blake both turned around but she obviously chose Blake:
Juliet Simms somewhat surprisingly picked Cee Lo over Adam, who seemed a better fit for her gritty rock raspy-voiced edge. Here's her audition:
Adam picked up Tony Lucca, who was a Mousketeer with Christina years ago. Not that she remembered him, but she did turn around at least.
Everyone did, but in the end, Adam got his first team member in Tony, who once performed "Devil Town" on the Friday Night Lights soundtrack:
Daniel Rosa, Gonul Aksoy, Ben Baxter, and Mark Trussell also tried out, but did not get anyone to turn around. There is still hope, however.
If the coaches don't fill out their teams by the end, the best of the rest may get another crack at it. So ... there's something to comfort them?
What did you think of The Voice Season 2 premiere? Are you glad it's back? Who was your favorite singer trying out Sunday night?
Which singing competition is better?
