Rangers newco's Scottish League fate to be ... - BBC World News

Rangers newco will find out today if they?ll be allowed to play in the First Division next season ? or be forced down into the third tier of Scottish football. Ibrox Stadium: Rangers? Scottish Football League fate is to be decided (Picture: PA) The SFL clubs meet at Hampden this morning to submit their votes on whether to admit the former SPL champions, who were refused entry back into the top division recently. The majority of the First Division teams who have revealed their views have said they would prefer it if the Old Firm club dropped into the bottom tier. One of the clubs ? Dunfermline ? refused to change their stance, despite a package of radical reforms being promised that would ensure Ally McCoist?s side would return as a new team in the First Division. Scottish Premier League clubs previously voted to reject the newco Rangers application (Picture: PA) Pars chairman John Yorkston said ?there was no dissent and the vote was unanimous? at a board meeting to discuss the proposals. He added: ?We are not against the proposals but we are against them being linked to Rangers being put into the First Division. ?It is time to change Scottish football for all, not just for one or two.? Scottish Third Division side Clyde cast doubt on the Gers? league future altogether, saying a lack of knowledge of the Rangers newco, owned by Charles Green?s Sevco Scotland Limited, made it ?impossible? for any team to agree to let them into any SFL division.
